Council
Presentation
The EU Council (former Ministers Council) is composed of one representative from each member state, at ministry level, empowered to commit the member state government. It is the main decisional and legislative body of the EU, even though it slowly has to share its powers with the European Parliament.
The Presidency of the Council rotates among the member states according to a schedule decided by the Council. The ministries being in function in their own governments, the permanence is insured by the Permanent Representatives Committee (COREPER) composed of member states ambassadors to the EU. The Coreper's main mission is to prepare the work of the Council.
Around 2800 civil servants help the Council in the execution of its duties, under the authority of a Secretary General.
Union Syndicale's delegation to the Council is composed on the one hand of 7 members of the Executive committee elected directly by our members in the Council and on the other hand of members of the Staff Committee (on Union Syndicale's list), as well as members designated in the different Joint Committees of the Staff Committee.
You will then be able to access information for our members only ( notaries, attorneys, registering for a training course, etc.) .
