"Work more to earn less"

Objective: Reduce cost of staff

Comment?

• Reduce staff by 5%.
• Get more out of staff: raise the working week from 37.5 to 40 hours.
• Pay less: reduce salaries through a new Method while maintaining the "special levy".
• Pay less: increase pension contributions.
• Pay less: limit AST careers prospects.
• Pay less: abolish official secretaries and replace by contract agents.
• Spend less: raise the retirement age from 63 to 65, early retirement from 55 to 58 and "encourage" staff to work until 67.
• Spend less: make the Staff Regulations less favourable in the agencies.

For the first time in its history, the Commission is preparing to attack the European Civil Service.
